Setara Transport. The trucking arm of the Setara Group.
GTA drayage & intermodal

Container drayage and intermodal across the GTA.

Setara Transport drays containers from the GTA's CN and CPKC rail terminals and Ontario ports to warehouses across the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario. We run our own trucks on core lanes and a vetted carrier network for the reach, with cross-border handled through our customs partner.

What we move from the GTA's terminals and ports

Off the rail ramp, into your warehouse.

Setara Transport is GTA-based, and container drayage and intermodal are a core part of what we run. We pull inbound containers from the GTA's rail terminals and Ontario ports and deliver them to warehouses and distribution centres across the region.

From the rail terminals
Containers railed into the GTA on the CN and CPKC networks, drayed to GTA and Ontario warehouses
From Ontario ports
Ocean and inland container freight off Ontario port facilities, moved inland on our trucks and network
To GTA & Ontario DCs
Final delivery to warehouses and distribution centres across Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, and Hamilton

We are GTA-based and we dray from the region's terminals and ports. We are not located at any rail terminal, and we do not claim gate familiarity we cannot back up. We move your containers cleanly and tell you straight where they are.

Own trucks plus a vetted carrier network

Asset-light, so capacity scales with you.

We carry the core GTA drayage and intermodal lanes on our own trucks, and we lean on a vetted carrier network for the broader reach and the surge volume.

Our own trucks run the core GTA container drayage and intermodal lanes, so the moves we carry most often stay on equipment we control, under one point of contact and one invoice.

When volume spikes, or a move needs reach beyond our core lanes, we tender it to a vetted carrier network. You get the capacity without the cost of a national fleet, and you still know exactly who to call.

On intermodal, rail covers the long haul and our trucks handle the first and last legs into and out of the GTA's terminals. Lower cost and lower emissions than running it all by road.

How we cover it

  • Own trucks on core GTA drayage lanes
  • Vetted carrier network for reach and surge
  • Intermodal first and last legs into the GTA
  • One point of contact, one invoice
Cross-border via our partner customs broker

Containers that keep moving across the border.

Plenty of GTA container freight does not stop at the Ontario line. We move cross-border containers between Canada and the United States, both directions, on FAST trusted-trader crossings.

Customs is handled through a licensed customs broker partner, so clearance and the drayage stay coordinated under one point of contact. We are not an in-house broker, and we do not claim bonded-carrier status.

US DOT and MC operating authority is in approval. TODO: authority numbers come with the carrier packet once issued.

On cross-border

  • Canada-US container runs both directions
  • FAST trusted-trader crossings
  • Customs via licensed broker partner
  • One point of contact across the lane
Roots in GTA freight

Freight experience that goes back two decades.

Setara Transport is a current operating carrier, but our freight roots go back to Tridem Logistics Inc., founded in 2006. That is close to two decades of moving freight in and around the GTA, now carried forward under the Setara brand.

Drayage questions

Common questions on GTA drayage and intermodal.

Do you handle container drayage in the GTA?
Yes. Setara Transport is GTA-based and container drayage is a core service. We pull inbound containers from the GTA's CN and CPKC rail terminals and Ontario ports and deliver them to warehouses and distribution centres across Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Hamilton, and the wider region.
Which rail terminals and ports do you dray from?
We dray from the GTA's rail terminals on the CN and CPKC networks and from Ontario ports. We are GTA-based and not located at any terminal, so we do not claim gate or turn-time advantages we cannot back up. We move containers cleanly and keep you updated on where they are.
How does intermodal work with Setara Transport?
On intermodal, rail covers the long haul and our trucks handle the first and last legs into and out of the GTA's terminals. It is lower cost and lower emissions than running the full distance by road, and it stays under one point of contact and one invoice.
Do you use your own trucks or a carrier network?
Both. We carry the core GTA drayage and intermodal lanes on our own trucks and chassis, and we tender broader reach and surge volume to a vetted carrier network. You get the capacity without the cost of a national fleet, and you still know exactly who to call.
Can a GTA container keep moving across the US border?
Yes. We move cross-border containers between Canada and the United States, both directions, on FAST trusted-trader crossings. Customs is handled through a licensed customs broker partner, so clearance and the drayage stay coordinated under one point of contact.
How do I request drayage capacity?
Send the terminal or port of origin, the container type and count, and the GTA or Ontario delivery point. We confirm whether the move runs on our own trucks or through the network, then coordinate the drayage and any intermodal legs end to end.
